The Attraction of Black Aniseed
Gold Medal Black Aniseed Mix is a versatile groundbait designed to darken your feed while introducing the distinctive aroma of aniseed.
Aniseed has long been used by coarse anglers as a flavouring, particularly when targeting roach, bream, carp and other coarse fish.
The dark colouring also makes this groundbait particularly useful when fishing clear water, shallow venues and pressured swims.
Why Use a Dark Groundbait?
Dark groundbaits are popular with match anglers because they can blend more naturally with the bottom of a river, canal or lake.
- Natural presentation: Dark feed can be less visually conspicuous against darker lakebeds.
- Useful in clear water: Particularly worth trying when fish are cautious.
- Distinctive aniseed aroma: Adds an additional flavour and scent to your feeding area.
- Versatile application: Suitable for rivers, canals and stillwaters.
- Flexible mixing: Can be used alone or combined with other groundbaits.
Depending on how it is mixed and introduced, Black Aniseed can also create a dark cloud of fine particles in the water.
How to Use Black Aniseed Mix
- Prepare your groundbait: Add water gradually, stirring thoroughly to achieve an even consistency.
- Allow it to absorb: Leave the mix for a few minutes, then check whether it needs a little more water.
- For canals and stillwaters: Try a softer mix that breaks down readily on the bottom.
- For river fishing: Adjust the moisture and firmness to suit the flow and feeding method.
- For extra versatility: Blend Black Aniseed with another Gold Medal groundbait when you want to darken the mixture and add aniseed flavour.
CHAMPION’S TIP: In clear water, try feeding a small amount of dark groundbait first and observe the fish’s response before increasing the quantity.
Which Fish Is It Suitable For?
Black Aniseed Mix is worth trying for a variety of coarse fish, including:
- Roach: Particularly when a darker feeding area is preferred.
- Bream: Can be used in a groundbait mix to introduce aroma and colour.
- Carp: An alternative aromatic groundbait for mixed fisheries.
- Other coarse fish: Useful when experimenting with different feeding approaches.
It can be used as a complete groundbait or as an addition to other mixes in the Gold Medal range.
