GOLD MEDAL GROUNDBAITS
BLACK BREAM MIX
A rich, dark, aromatic groundbait developed for bream and skimmers.

Specially Developed for Bream and Skimmers
Gold Medal Black Bream Mix is a dark, aromatic groundbait formulated primarily for bream and skimmers, but it can also be used when targeting tench, roach and carp.
The mix combines rich fishmeal, sweet aniseed and carefully selected feeding particles to create an attractive feeding area.
Its dark colour can help it blend naturally with the bottom of a river, lake or canal, particularly when fish are cautious in clear water.
What Makes Black Bream Mix Special?
- Rich fishmeal: Provides a fish-based food ingredient.
- Sweet aniseed: Adds a distinctive aroma to the groundbait.
- Selected feeding particles: Help create a feeding area that encourages fish to investigate.
- Dark colouring: Helps the mix blend with darker lakebeds and riverbeds.
- Versatile consistency: Can be adjusted for different feeding methods.
The combination has been tested by me and other experienced match anglers and developed with competitive fishing in mind.
Developed Through Match Fishing Experience
Throughout my international match fishing career, I learned how important the correct groundbait can be when targeting bream.
Fishmeal, aromatic ingredients and carefully controlled feeding patterns have all played a part in the development of my groundbait range.
Black Bream Mix brings those ideas together in a practical groundbait for both match and pleasure anglers.

How to Prepare Black Bream Mix
- Add water gradually: Pour small amounts of water into the dry groundbait while mixing thoroughly.
- Mix evenly: Use the palm of your hand or a groundbait mixing drill to achieve an even consistency.
- Allow the mix to absorb moisture: Leave it for a few minutes before checking the texture again.
- Sieve if required: Pass the mixture through a groundbait riddle to break up lumps and remove unwanted large particles.
- Add your feed: Introduce small quantities of suitable hookbait or feed particles, depending on the fishing conditions.
- For feeder fishing: Adjust the mixture so it can be used to plug the ends of a feeder and release the contents on the bottom.
CHAMPION’S TIP: When fishing for skimmers, experiment with smaller, more frequent feeds rather than introducing too much groundbait at once.
Which Fish Can You Target?
- Bream: The primary target species for this mix.
- Skimmers: Particularly useful for smaller bream on canals and stillwaters.
- Tench: Worth trying when fishing established feeding areas.
- Roach: A possible option on mixed-species venues.
- Carp: Can also be used in mixed coarse fisheries.
