GOLD MEDAL GROUNDBAITS
SPECIAL CARP MIX
A high-protein groundbait with larger food particles, specially developed for targeting big carp.
Developed by Clive Branson — Former World Angling Champion
Developed with Big Carp in Mind
Gold Medal Special Carp Mix has been formulated for anglers who want to target larger carp rather than simply attract large numbers of small fish.
Containing high-protein ingredients and carefully selected attractants, the mixture is designed to create an appealing feeding area while providing larger food particles that can help encourage carp to remain in the swim.
Unlike finer groundbaits intended for roach and other small fish, this mix retains its larger particles and is designed for a more substantial feeding approach.
It’s particularly suitable for experimenting with on carp lakes, reservoirs and commercial fisheries.
Personally Tried and Tested
I’ve personally used and tested this groundbait over many years, and it has helped me achieve some outstanding catches.
Among the memorable fish I’ve caught while using this mix are:
- 35 lb Siamese carp
- 20 lb grass carp
- Numerous large mirror carp
- Numerous large common carp
These experiences have given me confidence in the mixture and reinforced my belief in using the right ingredients and feeding approach when targeting larger fish.

Why Choose Special Carp Mix?
- High-protein ingredients: Formulated with larger carp in mind.
- Larger food particles: Designed to provide a more substantial feeding area.
- Personally tested: Developed through years of practical fishing experience.
- Versatile application: Suitable for feeding by hand or catapult where permitted.
- Big-fish approach: Intended for anglers targeting specimen carp as well as commercial fishery carp.
How to Prepare Special Carp Mix
- Place the dry mix in a bucket: Use the quantity required for your fishing session.
- Add water slowly: Introduce small amounts while mixing thoroughly until the groundbait begins to bind together.
- Keep the larger particles: Unlike some finer groundbaits, do not riddle this mixture. The larger food particles are an important part of its formulation.
- Adjust the consistency: Aim for a mixture that can be formed into balls without becoming excessively wet.
- Feed your chosen area: Catapult or throw balls of groundbait into the swim, where permitted, to establish a concentrated feeding area.
CHAMPION’S TIP: When targeting big carp, don’t automatically assume that more groundbait means more fish. Consider the number of carp present, the water temperature and how actively they’re feeding before deciding how much to introduce.
Where to Use Special Carp Mix
This mixture is designed for carp fishing on a variety of venues, including:
- Commercial carp fisheries: Where carp regularly respond to introduced groundbait.
- Carp lakes: When building a feeding area for larger fish.
- Reservoirs: Where a substantial groundbait mixture may be useful for attracting carp.
- Specimen fishing venues: When a selective feeding approach is part of your strategy.
Always check local fishery rules before introducing groundbait or using a catapult.
