A Traditional Groundbait with a Chocolate Twist

Gold Medal Chocolate Mix is a pure breadcrumb groundbait enhanced with a rich chocolate flavor.

Flavored breadcrumb groundbaits have been used by experienced anglers for many years, and chocolate is one of those distinctive aromas worth experimenting with.

When fish have become accustomed to one type of groundbait, changing the flavor or scent can sometimes produce a different response.

Chocolate Mix offers anglers a sweet-smelling alternative to conventional groundbaits and can be used on its own or combined with other mixtures.

What Makes Chocolate Mix Special?

• Pure breadcrumb base: A familiar and versatile ingredient in coarse fishing groundbaits.
• Chocolate flavor: Introduces a distinctive sweet aroma.
• Traditional approach: Based on flavored crumb mixtures used by anglers for generations.
• Flexible use: Suitable as a stand-alone groundbait or blended with other mixes.
• Multiple species: Worth trying for carp, bream, roach and skimmers.
• Useful alternative: Offers a change of scent when experimenting on heavily fished venues.

How to Prepare Chocolate Mix

1. Place the dry mix in a bowl: Start with the quantity required for your fishing session.
2. Add water gradually: Introduce small amounts while mixing thoroughly.
3. Check the consistency: Aim for a mixture firm enough to form small balls without becoming excessively wet.
4. Adjust for deeper or flowing water: Where appropriate and permitted, add a small quantity of clean gravel to help the groundbait balls sink quickly and reach the intended feeding area.
5. Feed your swim: Introduce suitable-sized balls and top up according to how the fish respond.

CHAMPION’S TIP: When fishing deeper swims or running water, a few small, clean gravel stones mixed into the groundbait can provide extra weight. Use only suitable material and always follow fishery rules.

Where to Use Chocolate Mix

Chocolate Mix is worth experimenting with on a variety of freshwater venues:

• Canals: When targeting roach, skimmers and other coarse fish.
• Stillwaters: When looking for an alternative sweet-flavored groundbait.
• Rivers: Where a breadcrumb-based mixture can be prepared to suit the flow.
• Commercial fisheries: When targeting carp, bream and mixed coarse fish.

It can also be blended with another Gold Medal groundbait when you want to introduce a chocolate aroma without changing your entire feeding approach.
