A Special Groundbait for F1 Carp
Gold Medal F1 Carp Mix is a carefully developed combination of sweet-and-sour flavours, aromatic spices and natural attractants.
It was created specifically with F1 carp in mind, particularly those found in commercial fisheries where fish can become accustomed to conventional groundbait mixtures.
The distinctive combination of sweet and spicy aromas provides anglers with an alternative feeding approach when targeting F1s and other coarse fish.
Suitable for pole fishing, margin fishing and open-water presentations, this is one of the more versatile mixtures in the Gold Medal range.
A Groundbait Discovered by Accident!
Some of the best discoveries in fishing happen when you least expect them.
My F1 Carp Mix was originally developed almost by accident during a fishing session on a commercial fishery.
I’d been fishing a swim where very little was happening. The fish simply weren’t responding as I’d hoped.
During the session, I experimented with a different combination of ingredients, introducing a mixture of sweet-and-sour flavours and aromatic spices.
The difference was remarkable.
A swim that had appeared almost lifeless suddenly came alive with feeding fish.
That experience encouraged me to continue experimenting with the formula until I developed the F1 Carp Mix available today.
Since then, it has become one of my most reliable groundbaits for commercial fisheries.

Why Choose Gold Medal F1 Carp Mix?
- Sweet-and-sour formulation: A distinctive combination of flavours designed for commercial fishery conditions.
- Aromatic spices: Adds an alternative scent profile to conventional carp groundbaits.
- Developed for F1 carp: Particularly suited to commercial waters containing F1s.
- Versatile consistency: Can be prepared dry, lightly dampened or as a wet slop.
- Suitable for pole fishing: Useful for feeding with a pole cup in margins or open water.
- Other coarse fish: Can also attract other species feeding in the swim.
How to Prepare F1 Carp Mix
One of the advantages of this mixture is that it can be prepared in different ways depending on your fishing method.
- Start with the dry groundbait: Place the required quantity in a mixing bowl.
- Add water gradually: Introduce small amounts while mixing thoroughly.
- For a lightly dampened mix: Use just enough moisture to achieve the consistency needed for your feeding approach.
- For wet slop: Add more water until the groundbait reaches a loose, wet consistency suitable for feeding with a pole cup.
- Adjust to conditions: Experiment with moisture levels according to fish activity, depth and presentation.
CHAMPION’S TIP: When fishing commercial waters for F1s, don’t overlook the effectiveness of feeding a wet slop through a pole cup. Experiment with the consistency and amount introduced, particularly when fish are responding to small, regular feeds.
Where to Use F1 Carp Mix
- Commercial fisheries: Particularly where F1 carp are a principal target species.
- Pole fishing: Suitable for introducing controlled quantities of groundbait into a precise feeding area.
- Margin fishing: Can be prepared as a wet slop when feeding close to the bank.
- Open-water fishing: Useful when presenting groundbait through a pole cup.
- Mixed coarse fisheries: Worth trying where carp and other coarse fish are present.
As with all groundbait, the most effective feeding approach will depend on the venue, weather, water temperature and behaviour of the fish.
