Fishmeal with an Extra Touch of Sweetness

Gold Medal Green Swim Sweet ‘n’ Fishmeal brings together three distinctive ingredients: high-protein fishmeal, green betaine and aromatic sweet aniseed.

The result is a green-coloured groundbait that combines the familiar food qualities of fishmeal with the additional scent of aniseed.

Green fishmeal mixtures have become popular with commercial fishery anglers and are increasingly being tried on natural venues too.

This particular version offers an alternative to our standard Green Swim Fishmeal by introducing sweet aniseed into the formulation.

It is particularly suited to anglers targeting carp, bream and other coarse fish on commercial fisheries and natural waters.

Three Key Ingredients

  • High-Protein Fishmeal: A widely used ingredient in modern coarse fishing groundbaits, particularly on commercial fisheries.
  • Green Betaine: An amino-acid-derived ingredient used in fishing bait formulations, contributing to the distinctive character of the mixture.
  • Sweet Aniseed: Adds an aromatic sweetness, giving this mixture a different scent profile from conventional fishmeal groundbaits.

Together, these ingredients create a versatile groundbait that can be used in several different ways.

A Versatile Mix for Commercial and Natural Waters

Green Swim Sweet ‘n’ Fishmeal is suitable for a variety of coarse fishing situations.

  • Commercial fisheries: Particularly when targeting carp and bream.
  • Natural stillwaters: An alternative groundbait for bream and other coarse fish.
  • Feeder fishing: Can be prepared for use in suitable feeders.
  • Pole fishing: Useful for feeding small balls accurately into a chosen swim.
  • Balling in: Suitable for introducing groundbait balls when building a feeding area.
  • Breadcrumb blends: Can be mixed with breadcrumb when a larger quantity of groundbait is required.

The mixture can be used on its own or combined with other suitable ingredients according to your preferred fishing method.

How to Prepare Green Swim Sweet ‘n’ Fishmeal

  1. Place the groundbait in a mixing bowl: Start with the quantity you expect to use during your session.
  2. Add water gradually: Introduce small amounts while mixing thoroughly by hand.
  3. Check the consistency: Aim for a soft, even mixture that holds together when squeezed.
  4. Add loose feed if required: Pellets or casters can be incorporated into the prepared groundbait.
  5. Form small balls: Make golf-ball-sized portions ready to introduce into your swim.
  6. Adjust for feeder fishing: If using a feeder, prepare the mixture so it holds together during casting but releases when submerged.

CHAMPION’S TIP: When mixing fishmeal groundbaits, add the water a little at a time. You can always introduce more moisture, but an over-wet mixture can be difficult to correct. Experiment with the consistency until it suits your chosen method.

Why Add Sweet Aniseed to Fishmeal?

Fishmeal is a familiar ingredient to many fish, particularly on commercial fisheries where fishmeal-based pellets are widely used.

Aniseed has also been used in coarse fishing groundbaits for many years because of its distinctive aromatic character.

By combining these two ingredients with green betaine, Green Swim Sweet ‘n’ Fishmeal offers anglers a different flavour combination from standard fishmeal groundbaits.

It’s another option worth trying when experimenting with groundbait mixtures and feeding methods.
