This unique mix was inspired by secret recipes shared with me by top French anglers while fishing in Nantes. It combines a carefully balanced selection of continental spices and sweet molasses to create a flavour that’s both sweet and slightly bitter — a combination fish simply can’t resist.
I first used this blend to win Day One of the 1986 World Championships on the River Rhine, landing 17 lb of skimmers. Ever since, it’s been my go-to mix whenever there’s a variety of species in the swim.
The turmeric aroma lifts through the water, while the molasses creates a soft, sweet cloud that draws fish and keeps them feeding confidently.
Mixing Instructions

Empty the molasses sachet into your mixing bowl.

Add a small amount of water and stir.

Gradually blend in the Continental Mix, allowing the groundbait to fully absorb the liquid.

Mix lightly, then riddle into a separate bowl to aerate and create the perfect texture for forming balls.
